Today I'm going to tell you all about why I think CBDA is magical, how to make it yourself, or how to get it at a great discount from a source you can trust.
By now, most people have heard of CBD and know that it can be helpful for a lot of different conditions like anxiety, pain, inflammation, and more. But when I start to talk about CBDA, people look at me as though I've lost it a bit. I haven’t! CBDA is awesome! In today's blog, I'm going to teach you:
What is CBDA?
What are the benefits of CBDA?
Where to buy CBDA oil.
How to make your own CBDA products
How to take CBDA.
How you may feel after taking CBDA.
What is CBDA?
CBDA is the much easier to say acronym for cannabidiolic acid and it is the raw, acidic form of the CBD from the plant we all know and love. The “A” at the end of it denotes an acidic side chain of the molecule. When this raw form is exposed to heat or light for long periods of time, it will convert to CBD, since the acid is removed in the process (psst… this includes smoking and vaping).
Therefore, if you want to keep CBDA, just don’t decarboxylate (AKA: decarb) the flower. If you’re asking “what’s decarbing?” take a sec to peek at this blog dedicated to decarbing at home and how to do it with my favorite infusion machine - the Ardent FX (there’s a discount code too!).
Although CBDA has been around forever, we are just starting to understand the benefits and unique properties it can provide and so many people are looking to add it to their life.
What are the benefits of CBDA?
One of the biggest benefits is that like its non-acidic counterpart - CBD - it’s not intoxicating or impairing. So, for those of you looking for therapeutic benefits without the high, CBDA may be the right choice for you.
Though the science and studies behind CBDA are preliminary, it has shown to maybe be more effective in 10-100x smaller doses than CBD. A smaller dose does not mean less effectiveness either, because it may be several times more potent in helping with nausea and vomiting, depression, anti-inflammation, and anti-seizure effects, just to name a few physical benefits.
Did you catch that? You may be able to take SIGNIFICANTLY less CBDA than CBD to get similar effects. That’s incredible and that’s why I think it’s magical.
What about side effects? Well, that’s the best part - there are literally none for most people. Have I convinced you of the magic that CBDA possesses yet?
Where to Buy CBDA Oil
I have fantastic news for you! Up until recently, the only way I would have recommended you get CBDA is by making your own. That's because the CBD market in the USA is a bit shady.
However, just recently I partnered with Healer CBD. This company is run by a practicing cannabis doctor, Dr. Dustin Sulak. He really cares about providing quality medicine. They have so many different products to try, they ship USA-wide and they're really reasonably priced. Plus, if you use code: revealcannabis you can save 20% off any order.
If you're in Canada, like me, or elsewhere in the world, we don't really have access to commercial preparations of CBDA yet, so we have to make our own.
How to Make CBDA at Home
However, if you're more of a DIY kinda person, it’s still easiest and cheapest to make your own. This way, you can control what goes into your body and make the most of the product. Here's how:
1. Purchase CBD flower. DO NOT DECARB YOUR FLOWER - otherwise, you’ll end up with CBD and not CBDA.
Proceed as normal when making your edibles at home. This can look like infusing the flower into teas or oils; adding the flower to capsules, or simply grinding it up and sprinkling it on top of your meal like a spice.
Now you’re done! You have "created" a CBDA edible. It’s that easy, which is the most mind-blowing part.
How will you be feeling after taking CBDA?
Similar to taking CBD, it may take a while of consistent, daily supplementation with CBDA before you feel its balancing effect on mood or inflammation. However, if you’re suffering from nausea/vomiting, I’d expect that you will feel its effect more quickly at the proper dose.
The “right dose” looks different for everyone, so it’s hard to spit out a generic recommendation (and I’m not a doctor anyway). Most people start dosing around 5 mg of CBDa twice per day, once in the morning and once in the early afternoon. Once you’ve done this for 3-4 days, increase the dose in 5 mg increments. Repeat this cycle of using a dose for 3-4 days, then increasing until you’re feeling better - this is your “right dose.”
